3. Hello, Sailor  (1,432 Google Reviews)

Hello, Sailor is a restaurant in Cornelius and another place we featured in our best waterfront dining article. Inside, you’ll find that mid-century “beach boy” vibe we talked about in a podcast episode with owners. We also reviewed Hello, Sailor in another blog article.

The restaurant affords excellent views of the lake from the outdoor dining area, and the place is accessible by boat. The menu is heavy on low-country fare, so you’ll want to bring an appetite for hush puppies and calabash-style fried seafood.

Hello, Sailor is a casual and comfortable dining experience where you’re likely to see patrons dressed up for date night, or pulling up in their Malibu Wakesetter and sporting flip-flops.

“Harp and Crown is the kind of place I love and the kind of place every neighborhood needs. Authentic is a term that gets tossed around too casually – it’s difficult to achieve perfect authenticity for any type of restaurant or space; materials differ, regulations differ, supplies differ. But I will say this is an authentic American Irish pub, which is something to be. Irish favorites abound plus pub and gastropub options. Service is fantastic. Beer selection is not bad! Some local options – would love to see more of a focus on that as it’s ensconced in an amazing beer city and region. The space is comfortable, and outside is amazing. We left full and happy.”

The bar is well stocked and if you are a people watcher this is the place to sit. The bar is the focal point and is quite large and luxurious looking. The table next to us ordered a “smoked” drink which was fun to watch the presentation. Our food was amazing. I had the sea bass and my husband had the steak! Our waiter was young but awesome and attentive.”

“First visit and certainly not our last! Superb service from the minute you walk up the sidewalk, not even in the “house” yet! We were greeted with a friendly welcome. Our waiter gave us a history of the restaurant and a “tour” of the menu. The drinks were an experience in itself! We had the oyster and calamari appetizers which were excellent. Our entree choices were salmon “rod and reel”, gnocchi “of the moment”and the elk rack (if you have never tried elk, this is lean, and tender) All were excellent. Our dessert was pecan tarts and blueberry cheesecake. Both delicious. We visited, enjoyed the atmosphere and friendly service and food. We will definitely return! Reservations are advised.”
