Charlotte-Based Dairy, Egg & Gluten-Free Ice Cream Shop To Open Two More Locations Next Year
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (December 10, 2025) – Seemingly Overzealous, Charlotte’s beloved dairy, egg, and gluten-free ice cream shop owned and operated by locals Jessica Berresse and Garrett Tichy, is thrilled to announce two new locations opening next year: Davidson and Matthews. The Davidson store, slated to open May 2026, will feature approximately 1000 square feet at 207 Griffith Street as a part of Sadler Square shopping center. Matthews, which will be the fifth location, is slated to open late Summer 2026 with approximately 1000 square feet of space at 126 Matthews Station Street.
Guests can expect 12-16 rotating flavors including best-selling classics like, CAN’T ALL BE COOKiE (cookies & cream) and SCOOP OF SELF DOUBT (chocolate peanut butter cups), in addition to more unique creations like i’M FREAKiN’ OUT (blood orange w/ candied ginger). The one common theme? The made-from-scratch dairy, egg & gluten free ice cream will continue to cater to those with allergies while also satisfying those looking for the creaminess they’ve come to expect from full fat, dairy-based ice cream. In addition to scoops, the shops will also offer gluten-free waffle cones, ice cream sammies, ice cream cakes and pints. Additionally, these new locations will bring the introduction of newer products including shakes, flights & expanded baked good offerings.
“Opening Seemingly Overzealous in these two communities is a dream.” says Jessica Berrese, Co-Founder of Seemingly Overzealous. “We are so grateful for the support we have already received from our existing customer base, from the families in the neighborhood that walk or bike in for their weekly treat and those who make the trek from further out of town for our specialty products. The expansion into Matthews and Davidson allows us the opportunity to connect with and serve even more members of our community, and we couldn’t be more excited.”
Similar to the Plaza Midwood shop, Davidson and Matthews locations will aim to create an immersive experience for customers, offering cozy seating areas, playful décor, and that signature Seemingly Overzealous flair that regulars have come to love. Yes, the floors will be glitter! In keeping with the shop’s dedication to local art culture, the new spaces will feature stunning one-of-a-kind murals by two different local artists, to be named. Both shops will be designed by Cluck Design Collaborative and Mad Goat Studio. DK Hayden Construction will return for the 4th and 5th time to do the complete buildout.
Once operating, both stores will be open 7 days a week: Monday through Thursdays 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., Fridays 1 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturdays 12 to 10 p.m., and Sundays 12 to 8 p.m. For more information on the brand and for updates on both current and new locations, follow @seeminglyoverzealous on Instagram or find them online at https://www.seeminglyoverzealous.com/.
