Huntersville, N.C. (May 22, 2023)

On the heels of launching its second location in SouthPark, Suffolk Punch Brewing today announces plans to further expand the concept to Birkdale Village early next year.

Following months of suspense and speculation, joint venture partners North American Properties (NAP) and Nuveen Real Estate shared that the Charlotte-based brand will occupy the standalone jewel box in The Grove across from the former Brixx space (now located near Regal Cinemas).

Birkdale Village has been an icon for nearly 20 years – not only locally, but also nationally. The energy, amazing outdoor experiences, and community focus that Birkdale provides overlap with what we provide guests at Suffolk Punch,” said Seth Stidham, co-owner and Chief Operating Officer of Suffolk Punch Brewing.

“We’ve been admiring the improvements and overall direction that NAP has taken the community recently. When the opportunity arose to bring Suffolk Punch to the center of this incredible neighborhood, it was basically a no-brainer for us. We’re absolutely stoked to join the stellar lineup at Birkdale and to serve all of our friends in the Lake Norman area.”

The beautiful two-story taproom will feature a rooftop with a partially covered bar and seating overlooking The Plaza as well as a full-service bar downstairs connected to an expansive, all-season patio nestled within the trees.

Guests can expect the familiar Suffolk Punch Brewing vibe with some unique elements exclusive to Birkdale Village.

At full capacity, the taproom is expected to accommodate an estimated 230 guests indoors and outdoors.

The two-story bar will feature a combination of reliable Suffolk Punch Brewing favorites and an exciting rotation of limited-release styles — created under the direction of Head Brewer Brad Maas.

Guests can expect to enjoy beers such as Daydream Lager, Pulp Prescription NEIPA, and Tropical Tree Tops Fruited Sour Ale, as well as Suffolk Punch Brewing’s newest seltzer releases, year-round.

Guest ciders and hard kombuchas will also be available for non-beer drinkers. The bar menu will include an extensive list of handmade cocktails, a wine list that highlights natural wines, and a variety of spirits.

Executive Chef Michael Rayfield will debut a streamlined, chef-driven menu that will rotate seasonally and accent local ingredients.

Durban Development will serve as the lead developer. Adam Williams of Legacy Real Estate Advisors, LLC, represented NAP in the lease transaction.

“Back when our leasing team initially visited Charlotte to experience local flavors and scout prospective tenants, Suffolk Punch was the very first stop we made. It is simply serendipitous how this partnership came to be,” said Adam Schwegman, NAP executive vice president.

Suffolk Punch Brewing joins several other businesses coming soon to Birkdale Village, including Anthropologie, bartaco, Drybar, Evereve, Foxcroft Wine Co., Girl Tribe Co., Lilly Pulitzer, Monkee’s of Lake Norman, Southern Tide, Sugar + Ice, The Cheesecake Factory, and The Good Wurst Co.
